Mudgee Historical Society HQ

The Mudgee Historical Society Inc. collects and displays items and documents pertaining to the history and culture of the Mudgee district, promotes its history, and provides a family history research service from its extensive archives.

The management committee of the Mudgee Historical Society Inc. meets at the Museum on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of December at 9am, members are welcome to attend.

Collection

The Mudgee Museum has a broad range of items in its collection, principally from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and with many items of Australian manufacture. The collection contains circa 60,000 items displayed in several buildings on site which include a mid-nineteenth century hotel, an early twentieth century church, and a replica of a slab hut.

Family History Research

An important part of the operations of the Mudgee Historical Society Inc involves family history research. Archives have been compiled since the foundations of the Society in 1964 and our volunteer research team members are able to conduct research from the Society’s now extensive resources which range from original documents to computerised databases.

Photographs

The Mudgee Historical Society Inc. possesses an extensive collection of photographs and allows many of these to be copied and sold. Photographs are of people, events, landscapes, streetscapes, buildings, rural scenes, agriculture/farming and industry.
